Humanitarian Mission in North-East Syria: Assessing Needs and Exploring Local Partnerships

Over the course of three weeks, our team conducted a humanitarian mission in Qamishli to gain a better understanding of the humanitarian situation in times of crisis and to explore opportunities for future cooperation with local partners.

Getting local, beginning of understanding

During the mission, we visited local structures and community initiatives, met with representatives of other non-governmental and humanitarian organizations, and exchanged experiences and perspectives on the current challenges the local population is facing. These meetings provided valuable insights into existing needs, ongoing responses, and potential areas for collaboration.

The soild of education

To understand the situation by students and teachers and to fullfill our goal of supporting the educational infrastructure in North-East Syria, our team visited several schools and attended classes. Particular attention was given to identifying gaps in educational resources and materials and to understand how crisis conditions affect the learning environment.

And the education of history

The mission also included visits to local cultural institutions, highlighting the important role that culture and community spaces can play in maintaining social cohesion and resilience during times of crisis.

Coming back and again

Building on the conclusions and partnerships established during the visit, we are now assessing potential areas for future projects and cooperations. The next steps will focus on identifying where our support can add the greatest value and how future activities can be developed in close coordination with local actors and communities.
