Acting in crisis – Relief and Support Actions mission in North Syria

The humanitarian crisis persists in Syria where the Relief and Support Action is in mission to assessing the situation constantly and to support the efforts of stabilizing the country.

General overview of the situation

Since the beginning of the civil war in Syria 2011 the humanitarian situation in Syria has deterioated. The access to education, food security and stable living conditions remain big challenges in many parts of the country. After the change of government in the end of 2024 new perspectives but also difficulties arose. Still the effects of the civil war are affecting the population.

Key objectives

• Assessement and Counseling: Understanding the complex problems and counsel our local partners.
• Food Security: prevent the dangers of poverty and support the distribution of aid packages.
• Support the educational program: Strengthening the efforts of the education system and creating creative environments for students.

First on the ground mission in crisis in North Syria beginning 2026

After long observation of the situation in Syria and in exchanging with our local partners we started our first on the ground mission in January 2026 in North Syria. With this we want to establish a long term support project to enable our partners to adress the humanitarian challenges, but also to create possibilities of change. In our first mission on the ground we could develope a better understanding of the reality and adapt with the necessary solutions accordingly. In moments of accute crisis we took part in food distribution programs of the BCF (Barzani Charity Foundation) and the Kurdish Red Crescent in the al-Hasakah Governate. Especially IDPs profited from these programs, and until now we have develope the success of these programs further. Together with IDP families we created childrens education and entertainment programs. We continue to work on the continuation of these programs to foster the education efforts in the country. With this first mission, we have lied the foundation of achieving our objectives in Syria and to address the humanitarian crisis further in future missions.
